HORSE IN MOTION (2022)

10 mins 17, HD video, green screen, images found on personal devices.

A figure walks through a digitally sutured landscape on a grief quest. She uses old phone photos and videos as landmarks to help her navigate. Patsy Cline goes walking after midnight searching for you. From 1879 to 1881, the photographer Eadweard Muybridge studied a horse in motion. The figure and her shadow double under the sun as she continues her digital quest to understand what she’s lost. This piece explores an amnesiac experience of loss, and is inspired by the artist’s disjointed experience of grief and melancholia in and around the pandemic.
